Smoke permeated through the room as you shot mercilessly at the popping up targets- cut out photos of soldiers. The enemy. You were exhausted, but your Lieutenant was filling in for the Captian, so you were under his guise for the day. You were a new recruit, and your Lieutenant, Simon Riley, didn't seem to like you as much as you'd prefer. You weren't a people pleaser, per se, but it makes you uncomfortable when someone isn't happy with you or doesn't like you very much.

You heard his voice on the static-filled radio, shouting at you to do it again. You grumble to yourself and reluctantly climb up the ladder to the rope, your eyes meeting Simon's from the observation deck as a hint of a smirk plays on his lips behind his mask. You just wanted to slap that smirk right off. He leaned forward, placing his hands on the railing. He speaks to you, his gruff British accent more pronounced I'm person, as opposed to over the radio.

    "Again."

He mutters, a sadistic glint in his eyes. "Slide down the rope when you're ready." You tighten the grip on your new rifle, biting your cheek to stop yourself from shouting. You worked so hard to get into the military; this task force, especially. You weren't gonna ruin it now.

    "I did fine, though.."

You mumble, looking at him. He raises an eyebrow, crossing his arms.

    "Hm? Speak up, Rookie."

You mentally cursed yourself for ever speaking, and you raise your voice because you have to.

    "I did fine."

You spoke, your voice barely above a shout. He rolls his eyes, laughing.

"I've already wasted three mags on this. This is just a waste of time and bullets, Lieutenant Riley.."

You huff as you wipe the sweat from your forehead.

"I'm exhausted.. and my speed and time is above average. I've gone through this training thing more than once, and I've passed every time. Just please.. let me be done with this."

You pleaded, trying to hide the exhausted tone slipping off your tongue.
