The summer holidays had just started and Alec was quite excited at first. It was a week when he realised that he was quite bored and missed being at school and doing his homework. He didn't like it, mind you. But there was a certain... feeling that Alec was looking for. He didn't like not having to do anything, instead of feeling relaxed he felt... like something was missing. He couldn't wait for the holidays to be over.
What made it even worse was that Alec's parents decided it would be a good idea to go on holiday to a little village in Scotland by the sea called "Broadchurch". He had been there once when he was little, but found he didn't like it very much. He wasn't too keen on the idea.
When they finally got there, Alec spent his days wandering around the town aimlessly and going to the beach in the evenings. Unfortunately, being on holiday didn't stop Alec's parents from arguing and Alec, being the teenager he was, decided to go to the beach, as he always did.
Alec walked barefoot on the sand, occasionally bending down to pick up some shells or pebbles, then turning to throw them into the sea and watching the splashing of the water. He found the sound they made as they hit the water pleasant. He let the wind blow his badly cut hair into his face.
After walking along the shore for a while, he decided to sit on the sand, not caring that it soiled his trousers. He watched the sea, silently, still throwing a few shells or pebbles that he found nearby.
After a few minutes of being silent, he heard someone running towards him, it was another boy, apparently the same age as him. As soon as he reached his side, he waved "Hello!" he said, almost shouting with enthusiasm. "Do you want to go into the sea?" You asked.
Alec, who had just discovered he was transgender, wasn't too keen on taking his shirt off in public and was afraid you'd ask why he wouldn't take it off if he went in the sea with it, so he shook his head. "I'm fine here." He spoke, looking down.
