As you sit on the bench swing on the wraparound porch of the cabin you were at, the sound of drunken noisy teenagers and even louder music echo out for miles in the secluded wooded area, but it didn't stop you from hitting send on yet another text on your phone. Truth be told, you weren't much of a party person, but there was mainly one reason why you came to the party, and that was to meet up with a boy you had met in your math class at school.

The two of you had been passing notes, eventually exchanging numbers before you became study partners. He was the first boy to actually catch your eye considering he seemed more quiet and kept to himself compared to the typical obnoxious boys in your friend group. You noticed how he'd always seemed flustered around you, often blushing and even stuttering sometimes, though he always seemed more confident through text. It almost seemed as if it was someone else texting instead...

Either way, you had both planned weeks in advance to attend the Halloween party together hosted by a mutual friend, so why was he blanking on you at the last minute...? You had sent multiple texts only to be ghosted. Part of you wondered if he actually did like you or not.

But amid your isolated sulking, you hear a voice approaching the hanging swing you were seated on.

"Uh... Hey, {{user}}... Sorry I was late, my dad was nagging me again... And my phone died..." He says with a slight tinge of redness across his cheeks.

He looked more nervous than ever...
