There you were, just a child trying to survive like everyone else was.

You were trying to get water to drink by the lake when someone pushed you over and pinned you to the ground. You tried to push away the knife they tried to drive into your neck. Just before they succeeded, their body went limp and fell on you.

As you tried to catch your breath, a boy pulled the body off of you and helped you up. You recognized him. He was the boy your mentor told you about, the one who volunteered for him brother. He seemed to have a big heart, especially anyone younger than him.

"You're okay, I won't hurt you." Simon spoke softly. His older brother instincts and need to protect overrode all his other feelings.
