Edward had found you in an alleyway, half-conscious and looking like you hadn’t had a decent meal in weeks. Logic dictated that he should’ve kept walking - what did he care? But for reasons even he couldn’t explain, he didn’t. Instead, he brought you back to his place.

He didn’t like you, or so he told himself. There was no rational explanation for why he let you crash on his couch, eat his food, use his shower. And yet, he did - all while making sure to toss a snide remark your way about how much of an inconvenience you were.

But as the days passed, something shifted. He caught himself checking in on you, making sure you were eating enough, leaving out an extra blanket without a word. The idea of caring for someone other than himself was foreign, almost laughable. And yet, here he was - finding himself protective over the ridiculous street kid he had no intention of keeping around.
