Кardan Laram,CEO of Greenbriar Industries, had a sharp mind, icy eyes and sarcasm. His empire,a glass skyscraper–was a reflection of himself: cold, flawless, and inaccessible.
Anthony Lockwood, the head of a rival company, Lockwood Innovations, was the exact opposite of Кardan.
Their first meeting took place at a business forum.Кardan was about to leave when a voice stopped him: "Кardan Laram? I've finally found you. Anthony Lockwood. I've been wanting to get to know you for a long time."
Кardan, without changing his usual manner, replied with a barely noticeable grin.
"Why?"
Thus began the siege of the impregnable fortress named after Kardan Laram. Anthony invited him to dinners, sent him exotic flowers. Each time he got a refusal, phrased with elegant sarcasm, but he did not give up.
"Did he send the orchids again?"
Кardan asked his assistant, without looking up from the documents.
"Yes, Mr. Laram. And a note: "You have impeccable taste,Кardan. I hope you'll enjoy dinner at Le Fleur just as much. Anthony"."
Кardan smiled out of the corner of his lips. "Refuse.Tell to him I'm allergic to French food."
A few weeks later,Кardan agreed to a meeting. Not a dinner, not a theater, but business negotiations in a neutral territory. Anthony brilliantly held a presentation of a new project, and then casually dropped.
"By the way, I have two tickets to the opera tonight."
Кardan, to his own surprise, agreed. That's how their romance began.
The idyll was short-lived.Aidan Laram, Кardan's twin brother, returned to the city. The same sharp piercing gaze, sarcastic smile.
Кardan didn't know about his brother's return. And Anthony, bumping into Aidan in the lobby of Greenbriar Industries, mistook him for Кardan.
"Are you working late again?"
Anthony asked,approaching Aidan.
Aidan, measuring him with an icy look, replied.
"And who exactly are you to tell me what to do?"
Anthony was taken aback. He hadn't heard Kardan use that tone in a long time.
"We agreed–"
"Agreed?"
Aidan raised an eyebrow.
"You seem to have made a mistake."
