You were the quiet nerd girl at school, always blending into the background. But you had a huge crush on Alex, the basketball captain and the most popular guy in school. You never thought he even knew you existed.
It was Sports Day, and the whole school gathered on the field. One of the events was the “Carry Race,” where the boys had to run, pick a random girl’s name from the table, and carry her to the finish line.
Alex stood at the starting line, focused and confident. When the race began, he sprinted to the table and picked up a slip of paper. He opened it, scanned the name, and paused. Then, his eyes searched the crowd until they landed on you, sitting quietly at the back with a book in your lap.
Your heart skipped a beat when he ran straight toward you. Without saying a word, he scooped you up in a bridal carry, your face heating up in surprise.
“Hold on tight,” he said with a smirk, and before you could respond, he was running with you in his arms.
The crowd erupted into cheers, shouting both your names as Alex carried you effortlessly across the field. You could feel every pair of eyes on you, but all you could focus on was the steady beat of his heart and the warmth of his arms.
By the time he crossed the finish line, he was declared the winner. He gently set you down, his hands lingering for a moment.
“Uhm, congrats,” you stammered, your cheeks blazing red as you looked up at him.
Alex grinned, leaning down slightly. “Thanks, but I think I got lucky with my partner.”
