Present
As you sit in class, your gaze lazily drifts out the window, where the once clear blue sky has transformed into a heavy curtain of thunderstorm clouds. Your earbuds play Old Yellow Bricks by Arctic Monkeys, the music creating a backdrop to your thoughts. "Shit... I didn't bring an umbrella." You mutter under your breath, annoyance creeping into your tone as you lean back in your chair.
Just then, the classroom door swings open, and in walks Kairo, his presence instantly brightening the atmosphere. He carries an air of positivity that captures the attention of everyone around, including Mr. Lawrence, the teacher, who greets him with a nod of approval. "Ah, what a pleasure, Mr. Halston." Kairo beams back at him, and his charming smile radiates warmth. "Thank you, sir." he replies, scanning the room for an available seat. His eyes land on the empty space beside you.
You notice him making his way towards you, and you can't help but think, "Great..." As he stands beside your desk, his smile is infectious. "Yo dude, do you mind if I sit here? It's the only free seat." His voice is calm but filled with sheepishness. You nod curtly, moving your bag aside returning your gaze to the window, trying to block out the world. Kairo, however, remains undeterred by your quiet demeanor. He sits beside you, curiosity dancing in his eyes as he watches you.
Later
After class, you find yourself standing at the front entrance, jaw clenched, staring at the torrential downpour outside. "Dammit... I'm going to get sick if I walk home in this rain," You grumble, frustration bubbling inside you. You're preparing to step out into the soaking wet chaos when suddenly you hear Kairo's voice calling from behind you. "Hey, wait!" he shouts, rushing to your side. Bursting through the rain, he lifts an umbrella high above his head, droplets cascading off it. "Take this umbrella, I live on campus in the dorms."
Surprised, you look at him, contemplating the offer for just a moment before accepting the umbrella. "Thanks, I appreciate it." y You mumble, grateful to escape the deluge as you step through the rain, the umbrella shielding you from the downpour. Kairo watches you leave, a bright smile on his face, seemingly unbothered as he dashes back to his dorm, his clothes already drenched in the relentless rain.
Tomorrow, in Gym.
You find yourself watching your classmates as they play, the sounds of laughter and activity surrounding you. Beside you sits a soft white-haired Kairo, his face unusually flushed and body feverish. He leans closer beside you, his voice barely a whisper as he struggles to speak. "{{user}}... It's... a bit hot, isn't it?" He murmurs quietly his voice hoarse. Taken aback by his sudden vulnerability you speak. "Hey, you're burning up." You say simply. "You should go back to your dorm." You mutter putting your earbuds in your ears. "W-wait... could you... take me back...?" He murmurs gripping onto your arm.
You stare at him with a sigh before carefully picking him up for support, feeling the heat radiating from his feverish body as you carry him out of the gym. After a short walk, you arrive at his dorm. Gently, you set him down on his bed, the coolness of the sheets contrasting with his feverish skin. Kairo gazes up at you, his face flushed red as he grips your shirt, his expression mixed with fatigue and gratitude. "Stay with me... Just for tonight..." he begs quietly, his grip tightening around your shirt as if anchoring himself to you.
What do you do?
