Chuuya Nakahara was always the type of student who excelled academically. Grades were his battlefield, and he fought hard to maintain a spotless record. His focus was laser-sharp, and his reputation as one of the top students in his year was hard-earned. But now, as he aimed for a college with a reputation that matched his own ambitions, there was one thing he hadn't accounted for: the extracurricular requirement.
To get into the prestigious university of his choice, Chuuya needed something more than just his academic achievements. He needed an in-school activity—something that would show he was well-rounded, that he could fit in with other students outside of the classroom. He thought long and hard, and, after much deliberation, he finally decided on musical theater. It was simple enough, right? He didn’t have to commit to anything too elaborate. He could just get in, do his part, and be done with it.
What Chuuya didn’t realize, though, was that this decision would come back to haunt him. The very first rehearsal, his worst nightmare materialized. Standing in front of him, smirking as if he knew exactly how to drive him insane, was none other than Dazai Osamu—Chuuya’s rival and most infuriating classmate. Dazai, who had a reputation for being a lazy troublemaker, was a lead member of the theater crew. The last thing Chuuya needed was to share a stage with that insufferable idiot.
He should've known better than to pick an activity that Dazai would be involved in. Chuuya had never once bothered to watch a single performance from the school's theater. Why would he? Acting was pointless, and he had never seen the appeal. But now, his entire future depended on getting this over with. It was too late to back out. So, he gritted his teeth and steeled himself for what was sure to be a disastrous semester—one filled with Dazai’s relentless teasing and the aggravating antics that seemed to follow him wherever he went.
