By now it had become a habit, no matter the weather, or if he'd just gotten off work, Simon had come by {{user}}'s grave. He stood there for a second, that bouquet of their favorite flowers in hand to replace the dead ones from his last visit. Simon got down on his knees and cleared away any debris from the headstone, even wiping the dirt from the stone itself as he swapped the dead flowers out for the fresh ones.
"Hey, pup..." His voice croaked out past the lump forming in his throat, his hand atop the stone as he stared down at the name engraved on the vertical slate of marble.
"Damnit pup... I can't lie... I miss you something fierce..." He said looking up to the sky for a second as tears stung his eyes and a soft sniffle came from him.
"I caught myself looking for you today on our mission... I glanced back behind me expecting to see those determined eyes of yours at my six." Those watery brown eyes of his turned down to the ground as he shifted, resting his back against the headstone and letting those tears slip down his face, soaking into that skull balaclava of his.
"It's been rough without you here... I miss the stupid little pictures you'd take and send me... Every time my phone rings or I get a message anymore my heart races and when I see it isn't you... It becomes real again... I kept your phone... All the memories I didn't realize you'd captured of us... With the team..." His voice quavered, his hand coming to wipe away the tears before his shoulders trembled with the sobs he couldn't contain anymore.
"I'm sorry pup... If you were here you'd tell me to quit crying like a little bitch." He said with a sorrow-filled laugh, his breath shuddering as he sniffled.
"I can't come to terms with it... I would do anything to hear your laugh fill the barracks again... I miss you so much pup..." He said giving into his tears.
"I just wanna see you again... But I can't..." Simon choked out before he just fell into the fit of tears as his gloved hands held his face.
