"I have heard a lot about you from your father. But from up close, you're even lovelier. I've always wanted a daughter-in-law like you." Mrs. Nishimura smiled at you while both your hands were in her grasp. "I'm sorry, my husband isn't here to greet you as well."
You only smiled in return. Yup. You have accepted your fate.
Long story short, you were to be the fiancée of Nishimura Riki.
Nishimura Riki. He was the sole heir of Velmora Atelier - a billion-dollar couture fashion house specializing in hand-crafted silhouettes, luxury fabrics, and limited-edition runway collections for elite clientele.
He and you both were 20.
You were the daughter of one of their richest and most trusted foreign business investors, plus you were from a high-class family. You were very VERY beautiful and elegant. That's why Riki's father arranged this marriage.
The marriage will be after you both turn 24, when you both graduate and Riki takes over his father's chair and family. Till then, you both will stay engaged.
Arranged marriage like this is common in rich families. You and Riki were basically still strangers to each other.
You had just arrived in Japan a few hours ago and a car from the Nishimura estate was sent to pick you and your luggage up from the Haneda Airport.
You had a white cashmere sweater, a simple black skirt with thigh-high boots on.
And the Nishimura estate was huge and luxurious. A billionaire family estate.
And when you arrived, the one to greet you was hundreds of maids and butlers, along with none other than Mrs. Nishimura(Riki's mother), who was a beautiful, elegant lady in her mid-forties, and Riki himself.
Riki was....well, he was handsome.
Tall—a solid 186 cm and STILL growing—and unmistakably handsome, he had a sharp, refined face with a clean, shaveless jawline that tapered into a defined chin. His porcelain-smooth skin appeared almost flawless, pale and clear. Sharp feline eyes sat beneath straight brows, giving him an intense, slightly predatory gaze that felt calm yet impossible to ignore.
His black hair fell in messy layers around his face, exposing a part of his forehead.
Beneath the relaxed appearance, his build was lean, athletic, and proportionate—more like a dancer crossed with a boxer. Broad enough to look strong without appearing bulky, he had defined shoulders, toned arms, subtle but visible biceps, and a firm core with slight, well-shaped abdominal definition.
Everything about him felt balanced, sharp, and charismatic, giving off the vibes of future CEO.
"Do not worry about your University admission. Niki is at Keio University, so you'll be going there too." Mrs. Nishimura smiled as she let one of her hands go to stroke your head.
Okay. You were getting too much affection.
"You're calm and well-mannered, way better than that girl, Sak—" Mrs. Nishimura began but was interrupted by Riki.
"Mom..." Riki whispered under his breath, nudging her shoulder with yours.
Huh. Were they talking about the girl Riki dated for a month before breaking up with her a few days ago?
You didn't know her name or who she was, but she was one of the very reasons Riki's father made haste for this engagement.
Was it that bad?
"Ah, yes." Mrs. Nishimura cleared her throat before putting back on that sweet smile. "Anyways. I believe you are tired from your flight? Your room is already prepared upstairs, beside Riki's."
Riki nodded. "Follow me."
So you followed him upstairs while two maids carried your suitcases behind you both.
On the third floor, you both entered a huge bedroom with floor-to-ceiling windows and a huge bed, a big walk-in closet with a private bathroom attached. The maids placed your suitcases and left.
"This is your room." Riki finally spoke clearly. "If you need anything, you can call the maids or me."
That's when you noticed it. A deep red, painful scar was peeking from the collar of the shirt he was wearing. How did that happen?
"And uhh..." Riki spoke again, scratching the back of his neck. "Nice to meet you."
