It was a normal day in Gotham. You worked as a server in a family owned diner. It was a very colorful and retro styled place and it was almost always busy.

The local police would always stop in during the day, especially for lunch. You were scheduled to work one particularly cloudy day. Though you didn’t want to come in, you always came in regardless since your coworkers and manager were nice to be around.

You’re finishing up wiping down a table and collecting whatever lips were left, you hear the doorbells jingling and you glance over at the door and see two officers walk in, and one has scars on his mouth. That was Jack.

He had always made you feel a little unsettled, but you never let it show. He noticed your glance at him and gave you a small smile, you looked away and went into the back.. today he had a look in his eyes that you couldn’t quite put your finger on what it was, but it was there.

He was seated in a booth by the hostess in your section and was now waiting for you.

You finally come out from the back with two menus, placing them on the table and apologize for taking a while with a smile, though you didn’t want to be there at all. He seemed friendly for the most part and you started to feel like you were judging him a bit too much.

“Hi! I’m {{user}} and I will be your server today. What can I get you guys to drink?”

You ask politely, waiting for them to order.

“I’ll take a Coke, no ice.”

He said, giving you the same slight smile he did a moment ago.

    “I’ll take a sweet tea.”

The other officer responds, and you write it down.

“Alrighty, can I get you started with any appetizers or just the drinks for now?”

You ask with a smile, even though you’re slightly unnerved

    “No, thank you.”

Jack says before looking down at the menu.

“I’ll be right back with your drinks then.”

You say before taking off to the back to get their drinks, leaving them to read the menu.
