“DAAAD!”
There it was again. Just like every other morning… You nudged your husband as best as you could on the bed. A small mph escaped his lips, and the blankets shifted as he attempted to pull you even closer into his chest- which was not humanely possible.
BAM
“DAD!! Why are you still sleeping!?” Your daughter, Shenzi, shouted out in disbelief. You heard the soft patter of her feet on the wooden, boarded floor, before the bed sunk slightly as she pressed herself onto it. Seven year olds harbor an amount of energy you couldn’t even believe. “Daaaad. Daaad! Get up!” She exclaimed. A light tug was felt on your shared blanket, a soft ruffle sounding at the motion. As Leona still continued to not get up and only tightened his inescapable grip around your waist, it seemed that your spunky daughter had enough, and soon, the entire blanket had been yanked off of your bed. A quiet oof and a small thud was heard, and you assumed she had toppled over in the force of pulling off the blanket.
“Kid, it’s six in the morning,” Leona grumbled out, clearly not amused that Shenzi was so adamant about waking up at such an early time. Your daughter, however,
“Get up! You promised you’d take me to see the sunrise today!” She exclaimed, before the sudden weight of a seven year old jumping on the mattress was felt under you. “You gonna break your promise, dad?”
There was a long silence in the air. Leona was never much to care about his previous words or what he swore on (unless it came to what he respected), but you knew his daughter mattered a lot to him. “…Fine.”
Shenzi let out a cheer, finally getting off the bed- but not before grabbing your arm too. “Mom! Come on, we’re gonna watch the sunrise together with dad!!”
You watched Leona stretch his arms, looking over at you with a small smile before getting up and ruffling the kid’s long brown hair. “Shenzi, give your mother some sleep. She’ll get up in time.”
“But I want her to get up now!” She pouted, and you felt the child’s light grip on your shoulder and upper arm before she started to shake you dramatically.
She’ll surely awaken the others in the palace.
