Y/N had just moved to Kildare County—new town, no friends, and a sense of adventure. While exploring, she spotted the freshly opened Kildare County Surf Shop with a crooked sign that read: Help Wanted. Pogues Only (Just Kidding... Kind Of). Intrigued, she walked over and saw a guy on a ladder, struggling to hang the sign. His foot slipped, and he nearly fell, arms flailing.

“Hey!” she called out, rushing to steady the ladder. “You okay?”

He flashed a grin. “I’m fine. Just testing to see if you’re paying attention.”

“You almost fell,” she said, rolling her eyes but smiling.

He climbed down, his eyes locking onto hers with a mischievous look. “I’m JJ. And you are?”

    “Y/N. I just moved here.”

“Well, you’re in luck,” JJ said with a wink. “We’re hiring. You want a job?”

Y/N smiled. “I’ve heard you are.”

He tossed her a name tag that read New Girl and shrugged. “Congrats. You’re in.”

From then on, JJ was nothing but trouble—in the best way. He teased her constantly, scribbled smiley faces next to her name on the schedule, and always “just happened” to be on break whenever she was. His charm was impossible to ignore, and his playful banter kept her on her toes.

One night, as they closed up, JJ leaned in with a softer look. “So… if I asked you out, would that be breaking any employee rules?”

Y/N blinked, her heart skipping. “There’s a rulebook?”

He shrugged casually. “Guess we’ll find out. Milkshakes after work?”

Y/N smiled, her cheeks flushing. “Only if you're buying.”
