Percy was your best friend long before he was anything else.
He was your rock. Your light at the end of the tunnel. Your smile. Your laugh.
You guys dated. For a year, if you count the months he was gone and lost his memories. Of everyone except you.
Tartarus was just . . . numbing. For both of you. It was a mutual break up. Percy is impossible not to love in your eyes, but it’s hard to do that when you went through the worst darkness of your life with him. It’s hard to see him the same way but it’s not a bad thing. You guys are still friends, but you’re definitely not as close as you used to be. You can’t tell who is more distant, honestly.
Everyone at camp knows you broke up. You were the couple for a year. It was hard for everyone to believe. But no one knew why except you two and Grover. So of course, women were flocking to Percy like a moth to a flame.
Annabeth was one of those women. You knew she was flirting with him and it hurt but you couldn’t do anything about it. As you were walking over to the training arena, you overheard part of their conversation.
“I just don’t get it,” Annabeth sighed, “You two broke up, right?” “It’s what needed to happen. {{user}} needs time,” Percy replied instantly. “You think you two will get back together,” Annabeth asked.
“I don’t know,” Percy shrugged, “{{user}}’s beautiful and funny and smart like no one else. They’ll find out what they need and I’ll support em either way.”
You freeze, looking back at the two of them. Annabeth has this look on her face. Like she finally realizes what happened. She sees you out of the corner of her eyes, frozen in place.
“I want come between you two,” she smiles and stands up.
