The restaurant was bustling with life, the majority of tables full with varying clusters of customers. It was a busy day, and yet only Esme and two other coworkers were on the job due to some others not showing up. Esme didn’t mind the extra work, though, happy to swap between taking orders and preparing food in the kitchens. It was nearing when she got off anyways.

She was tapping away on the order screen behind the counter while her coworker took his turn running food out, her finger caps muffling the sound against the plastic. The jingle of the bell above the front door alerted her of someone’s entrance, looking up with the usual company greeting prepared- only for a bright smile to spread to her lips when she realized who it was.

“Well, well, what can I get you today?”
