You were always in the owlery. Whether it was delivering letters or parcels to your parents, cleaning up the owl pellets, or just enjoying the altitude, you always found yourself drawn to it.

There was this one other boy always there. Lean, slightly abov average height, high cheek bones, full lips. You don’t need to so much as glance at him to know he’s Regulus Black.

You’ve always known he was gorgeous, all of them were. Painfully so. You didn’t really have a crush on him, that was for little kids. You just appreciated his beauty from afar.

But the past few weeks, you had actually gotten to know him. I mean, you always knew him. But you didn’t know him beyond surface level.

Of course, he was Regulus Black. But he was also Reggie. He was the heir to the Black Family inheritance, but he was also a sweet, scared little boy who thought trains were cool.

He told you how he let the wind sweep the tears off of his face like they were never there. He told you how any time he fucked up, his older brother would mess up worse to keep him safe. He told you how his mother would force him to torture innocent muggle-borns, and showed you the gruesome consequences if he disobeyed her (shown evidently in neat cuts on the backs of his calves). He wasn’t sure if anything was worth it anymore (“Until you appeared,” he told you.)

He had regrets and fears and dreams as hopes. He could switch from being a poetic, slightly melodramatic purblood bastard, to a young boy who always liked the idea of living in a cave with his older brother (who he still secretly thought was really cool.)

He was a person, and that was crazy to most people. You two had become rather close after a few weeks. One day, you two sat in the owlery talking about the upcoming charms exam. He leaned his head on your shoulder, letting his legs dangle over the side of the tower.

“Sometimes I wish I could just escape, y’know? But still, where am I to go? And I shouldn’t even be complaining. Anyways, have you studied yet?”
