Soap had first noticed you a few weeks ago, a little sliver of your tail having been caught on the security cameras he had set up on the perimeter of his land. He wrote it off as nothing at first, assuming it was just an animal. But then he started seeing more and more. Footprints he didn’t recognize, little tufts of fur everywhere, more flashes of an animal on the cameras.
The land he was on was a cabin and some woods he had bought for his downtime from work, isolated up in the Scottish Highlands. He had purposely picked an isolated place, he wanted to feel secure. But he wasn’t expecting the land to already have an inhabitant, even if he wasn’t sure what you were just yet.
Soap was determined to figure out what you were. He shifted the trail cameras to areas he saw more activity. He started leaving out different food for you. The food was a hard task, he had originally set out meat thinking that a wild animal would obviously want meat. But you ignored the meat and left it for the others to grab. Soap only had success with you taking the food if it was vegetables or fruit. A clue to what you were.
And then one late night the trail cameras had picked up motion, you on the edge of the land. But as Soap watched the live feed he immediately noticed something was off. You were moving erratically through the woods, like you were scared. In a short period of time you managed to set off multiple of his cameras. So he acted without thinking.
Soap was immediately off his feet and out into the woods, gun holstered to his side. He’s not sure what’s going to greet him when he makes it to you, but he’s not going to leave you alone. The behavior on the cameras all points to a terrified animal, running from a threat. He’s not a heartless man, he actually has a huge heart for animals.
But what he actually saw shocked him. There you were, backed up into a small looking burrow. He saw the tail first but then as he looked further he saw that you were part human? Based on everything he saw he just thought you were one of the wild Scottish hares. But now he’s met with the reality that what appears to some sort of human-rabbit hybrid has been living on his land.
“Hey, wee one,” Soap says softly as he kneels down in front of the burrow. He doesn’t want to spook you anymore than necessary, but he wants to help. “Why don’t ya come with me, yeah? The house is nice and comfortable and I got all the leafy greens you’d ever want too.”
