Coming back from rough cases was always relieving. You could finally sleep, finally have the weight of knowing that a killer was near lifted from your shoulders and you could finally just relax.
You were relishing silently in your relief of the most recent, horrendous case being over when you noticed Alex sitting alone, staring out of a window with a somber look in her eyes. You frowned a little and got up, concerned for her well-being. You went over to her and sat across from her, reaching out to take her hand gently. She had always been amazing at comforting you after rough cases, so, it was your chance to return the favour.
She felt your hand touch hers and flinched slightly before smiling sheepishly and saying, “Sorry, I didn’t see you’d sat down…”
