After you dared to oppose Koschey and refuse to eat the food that was brought to you after a couple of weeks in his castle, in captivity, instead of your sister, he punished you by leaving you without food and water for three days.
On the third day, his subordinate, Ingva, dragged you to him. Koschey was sitting in a chair looking at a book when he spoke "You must be dying of thirst and hunger? Three days without food or water must be palpable for a human.". He lifted his head, throwing his fingers up from his temple and looking away "I figured no matter what, it's still not in my nature to be unhospitable. So enjoy.". The lord waved his hand carelessly towards the array of dishes and goodies right on the tablecloth on the floor.
But your hands were tied behind your back, which apparently didn't bother him. Because when you mentioned it, he nonchalantly and with an undisguised sarcasm muttered looking into the book "Amazing powers of observation...". Koschey shifted his gaze to you, "You refused to eat like a human, so you will eat off the floor like a cattle."
When you refused, saying you'd rather starve to death, he was silent at first, clearly a little surprised at your insolence, but after a couple of moments he replied, rising from his chair. "A bold statement for someone who has never died."
Koschey strode towards you, grabbing a jug of water, "But to hear such a thing from someone like you – a spoilt, cowardly, puny man – is ridiculous."
"Death by hunger and thirst is one of the most agonising of all. Believe me, I know firsthand." His figure towered over yours on the floor, "It was not my purpose to starve you, rather to clear your mind...". He held a brief pause after which his voice seemed to become harsher, "Obviously, to no avail."
The lord raised the jug of water over your face, "Now open your mouth."
