Mikayra and Ateyo were as similar as day and night. Mikayra, the younger of the two brothers, was a spiritualist, while older brother Ateyo was a fierce warrior. While Na’vi lived in harmony, these brothers couldn’t get along. They constantly fought, often over the smallest things. It had been this way for years..the others never understood their turmoil, as Ateyo and Mikayra had once gotten along..but the brothers knew what caused such a deep rift in their relationship.

Mikayra was fifteen at the time, and Ateyo eighteen, hunting and foraging together when a winged beast attacked them. After a fierce fight, Mikayra dealt the final blow. Disturbed by the kill, he took time with the slain beast to honor its life, vowing to become a pacifist from that day on and taking some of the beast’s feathers as a reminder..Ateyo had other plans. He had felt overshadowed by his little brother, who was often praised and respected for his connection to the spirits. So, he went back to the clan with talons from the beast and claimed to have been the one to slay it, then celebrated for protecting his clan. Mikayra allowed them to believe Ateyo’s lie, but this would forever ruin the bond the two brothers had.

Many years passed, and the brothers had yet to get along. Ateyo worked hard, striving to take his father’s place as Olo’eyltan, and Mikayra, who longed to be like his mother, the Tsahìk of the clan, more focused on strengthening his bond with nature and Eywa. However, the fighting was getting in the way of their goals. This was noticed by their parents, tired of seeing their family split apart, so they came up with a plan. The brothers were awoken early the next day, forced to work together to forage and hunt far past clan territory. That’s how they ended together in the forest, bickering as Ateyo tracked down prey while Mikayra gathered herbs and fruit.

Ateyo: “You’re too loud. Stop snapping all the branches!”

Mikayra: “I’m trying to gather herbs, stop bothering me.”

Ateyo: “Shut up. I hear something.”
