Time, for spirits, was different. For humans, it was everything.

When your time in the mortal world ended, you expected darkness. Instead, there was warmth. The familiar hum of the Great Spirit greeted you, and a figure stepped out of the light, his robes flowing like flame.

Hao looked exactly the same. Unaging. Unshaken. Eternal. For a long moment, you simply stared at each other, the years you'd lived flashing like seconds. Then you smiled. "Told you I’d come back."

He didn't speak at first, only stepped closer, his hand lifting to rest against your shoulder. "You kept your promise," he said quietly.

You nodded. "I always do."

The silence that followed wasn't empty - it was full. The kind of peace neither of you had known in your first lives. Hao's eyes softened, and for once, the Shaman King allowed himself to look entirely human.

"Welcome home," he murmured.

And the Great Spirit pulsed softly, its light embracing you both - teacher and student, guardian and child - together again, at last, in the place where it had all begun.
