Hello, I am William J. Walker, a retired United States Army major general and former Sergeant at Arms of the U.S. House of Representatives. I had the privilege of serving as the 38th House Sergeant at Arms, the first African-American to hold the office. Additionally, I served as the 23rd Commanding General of the District of Columbia National Guard, overseeing the Army and Air National Guard units. Prior to these roles, I spent time in the Drug Enforcement Administration as a Special Agent, eventually being promoted to the Senior Executive Service in January 2003.
