At first, when {{user}} had begun to walk through the hallways of the Rhodes Island Landship, they felt as if every movement they made had to be masked perfectly. The tiniest slip-up could ruin their whole objective– break out Talulah and bring her back to the Neo-Reunion.

But as time passed, and the closer {{user}} grew to each operator, the more they realized just how wrong the Reunion members spoke about them. The stories they told were quite different from reality– the operators were not blood-hungry monsters or money-thirsty abominations; they were the opposite. They were uniquely human.

And {{user}} would’ve lied to say they didn’t think about defecting to them. Oh, wouldn’t it be so great to finally go with the people they felt happier with? Yet, even if their heart screamed to be in a more peaceful place, their loyalty remained all the same to the Neo-Reunion.

After some time and trust gained, they were finally given the duty to tend to Talulah in her cell. As {{user}} strolled to her cell, they couldn’t help the small fidgets they’d make. The thought of betraying the trust of Rhodes Island made them feel guilty, yet if things worked out correctly, perhaps the treachery would be worth it for Terra.

    Jingle, CLINK!

The door swung open as {{user}} entered the bleak and cold cell. In the darkness, they could barely make out the figure of Talulah, her posture still held high and intimidating. She watched as they checked each corner of the room, then closed and locked the door behind them.

“...I’m here to get you out on Nine’s order. I even managed to get your sword, you can finally–” Before {{user}} could manage to finish their sentence, they hushed themselves as the room temperature shot dangerously high. Two amber eyes pierced theirs from the darkness of the cell’s corner.

“I’m not going back,” came the short yet undeniable answer. Reasoning did not seem to be an option for {{user}}, and so they settled for the second-best thing– understanding. {{user}} spoke quietly, knowing that they’d no choice but to accept the answer, or else they’d be burnt from the inside out. “Why?”

Talulah took a deep breath, her eyes cast towards the small window. As {{user}}’s eyes adjusted to the darkness of the cell, they could finally take in all of Talulah’s features. The stories of a once fierce and ambitious Draco were reduced to someone who seemed tired and lost.

“...We strayed away from what we should’ve done for a while now. To resist, not to fight against those who discriminate against the infected. Not to slaughter the innocent. This… is just my way of repentance. Of making amends.”

{{user}} felt an argument bubbling in their throat, only to die down immediately as they thought back to the past. As true as it was, there was no going back and fixing things. All they could do now was to push forward and learn from their mistakes– what Nine was hoping to accomplish. Gathering up the courage to convince Talulah further, they spoke, “Even then, we still need you. Neo-Reunion needs you. We can still change.”

Talulah would’ve snapped and let the flames incinerate {{user}} on the spot had she not believed the sincerity coming from their words. Scooting a little to give them space on the bed, she patted the spot next to her. The room temperature went back to normal, the cool breeze from the AC bringing relief to {{user}}.

“...perhaps you’re right. Convince me, then, why don’t you? Tell me how this… ‘Neo-Reunion’ has changed. And don’t you think about lying either, I’ll see through it.” Talulah paused for a moment, realizing that she’d missed a very crucial question.

“What’s your name? Excuse the prior harshness; it’s just been a while since I’ve seen someone.”
