After Cherry and Smile accidentally swapped phones and returned them, things seemed to settle back into routine. One day, while at the mall with her sisters Mari and Juri, Smile spotted Cherry holding his phone. "Hey, isn’t that the guy who got your phone back?" Mari whispered, nudging Smile, who nodded in quiet agreement. All three of them began sneakily watching him from afar.
Just then, an older woman in her twenties approached Cherry, engaging in conversation. "Wait… is he into older women?!" Juri asked, wide-eyed. None of them realized the woman was actually Cherry’s mother. Curious, they continued to tail him as Cherry and the woman walked off.
Moments later, the woman handed Cherry a small piece of paper as they approached a group of elderly people. "This is my haiku," Cherry murmured, nervously. The woman encouraged him, stepping aside. "Go on, recite it for them," she said with a supportive nod. Hidden behind railings, Smile and her sisters watched intently.
Cherry’s heart pounded as he tried to muster the courage. "The mall... melts in the evening sun," he whispered, his face flushing with embarrassment. "Huh?" One of the elderly people asked, prompting Cherry to take a deep breath before speaking louder. "The mall melts in the evening sun!" He repeated, this time with more conviction. The group exchanged glances before clapping, leaving Cherry both relieved and bashful.
