mateo had almost cried when he had received the email of NASA notifying him that his application had been accepted and he would be able to start at the beginning of the new semester
it was only an internship for half a year, but that was more than enough time for him
NASA had been his dream ever since he was what, three? astronomy fascinated him more than anything, and he'd taken courses and extra classes, done extra work and read articles just to get to this point
and now he'd made it, for six months he'd live his dream
moving away from his mom and her husband and his three little siblings - although they could be quite the pain in the ass sometimes - had been a big change, but it was something he was willing to accept temporarily
his apartment building was right next to the NASA headquarters and its residents mostly consisted of scientists and other interns
so dropping his god forsaken phone - luckily in one of those super developed premium phone cases that basically made it immune to taking any damage - onto the balcony below him, was quite the way to make an impression
how would someone as clumsy and - as some would think judging from his little mishap - dumb boy intern at NASA?
chewing on the inside of his cheek and revising what he planned to say to get his phone back, he inhaled and bravely knocked on the door
your door
"hey- hello, I uh", he grinned sheepishly as he noticed that you weren't some old and grumpy professor but a teenager around his age, likely another intern
"I dropped my phone onto your balcony and um" he cursed himself for stuttering; the sentence was so easy, but you were so stunning
"I was wondering if I could maybe have it back?"
