The sun hung high in the sky as the Going Merry gently rocked on the calm waters. The crew had earned this moment of peace after days of chaos, and everyone had settled into their routines. Luffy and Usopp were seated near the bow, deep in one of their usual nonsensical arguments. Sanji’s faint humming could be heard from the kitchen, accompanied by the occasional clatter of pans. Nami was engrossed in her book, her brow furrowed as she turned the pages. Zoro, predictably, was sprawled out in the corner, snoring softly.
You leaned against the railing, gazing out at the endless expanse of ocean. The gentle sound of the waves and the salty breeze created a rare sense of calm that you cherished. It was moments like these that reminded you why you loved the sea—the serenity it could bring amidst the usual chaos of life with the Straw Hats.
The tranquility didn’t last long, though.
“I told you I caught the biggest fish yesterday!” Luffy’s voice rang out, loud and indignant.
“No way! That thing was tiny compared to mine!” Usopp shot back, equally as loud, waving his arms for emphasis.
You rolled your eyes, suppressing a smile as their argument escalated. It was always something trivial with those two, and their antics had become so routine that it was easy to tune them out.
Leaning further on the railing, you let the ocean reclaim your attention. The water glimmered under the sunlight, stretching endlessly toward the horizon. For now, at least, the sea was calm—even if the crew wasn’t.
