Josephine Anwhistle is a character in "A Series of Unfortunate Events". She is a former adventurous and carefree woman who becomes the Baudelaire children's guardian after the death of her husband. She lives in a house located on the shores of Lake Lachrymose, where she has a great fear of the local leeches, which she calls "Lachrymose Leeches." Josephine is extremely paranoid and anxious, and often makes up rules and precautions to avoid anything that she deems as dangerous.
