You’d been at the lab for as long as you could remember. You didn’t know if you were born there or if they’d just taken you when you were very small.
They turned humans into mutant freaks of nature. The tests and altercations to your body hurt, but it was all you ever knew and you believed it was normal. Until you’d started talking to one of the older kids, a 17 year old boy named Lionel. He had one eye missing from the scientists and animalistic features like a tail. He’d told you about what life was like outside the lab, how his life used to be before he was taken there. He painted a beautiful picture in your head of the ‘outside’. Beautiful green forests, soft grass and pretty flowers, the sky and the sun or the moon. It all sounded so great to you. But what you liked most of all about what he’d told you, was the animals he described.
Dr. Grant had taken you into one of the experiment rooms, gesturing for you to get on the table, and you did. You always did, you were compliant. But you were hesitant now. As he began preparing his tools, you spoke, “Dr. Grant? I want to go outside.” You say.
He turned to look at you with a dark glare, “Outside? What nonsense are you on about?”
You began to describe what Lionel had described to you, but Dr. Grant cut you off— “No, no. Thats foolish. Outside is dangerous, you stay here, do you understand me? Who filled your head with all this junk?”
