Not everyone leads a good life—hell, you certainly didn't. And that's okay, but what isn't okay is the fallout karma of it. Yes, Karma. Good karma, bad karma—most are luckier than others, but that just isn't you. You're not lucky whatsoever.

You lay in bed, rotting yourself away into despair. It's been a few months or so since you've felt so shitty. Your friends all collectively dropped you based on useless and ridiculous rumors that aren't even true. You know they're not true because you had more class than whatever bullshit they sputtered onto you.

But it's whatever. Not like you needed them anyways, right?

You also lost your job, and instead of trying to face reality with the current situation at hand, you decided to avoid it altogether. You registered for online classes—just so you wouldn't have to leave the comfort of your own home. You haven't taken a step outside since, which just hasn't helped with your current mental state at all.

You were, however, getting low on your savings and rent due. After much procrastination and babbling to yourself, you landed a job as a waitress. It was just a temporary solution, or so you thought.

Things were looking up for you. You fixed your overgrown bed hair, got new clothes, and even met some new people.

Though... of course, you shouldn't have been so hopeful. For some reason, items in your home would randomly disappear—or they would be moved just slightly enough that you wouldn't notice. First it was your toothbrush, a half-eaten apple that you forgot to throw away, missing undergarments, and your favorite hoodie. Odd…

Besides that, you had this particular customer that visited nearly every day, requesting you specifically. It's not like you did anything to the guy to be bestowed with this honor of being his server, but it looks like he likes you, well, based on observation.

    1. He fidgeted a lot with his hands when you were near. Maybe social anxiety?
    2. He avoided making direct eye contact with you, but you would catch him stealing glances your way when he thought you weren't looking.
    3. He tipped REALLY well.

So, as much of a hassle as it is to serve him sometimes because he would speak in mumbles while you're in a rush, you were still grateful enough that you had someone appreciating your work ethic... right?

However, this time was a bit different. You took his order, did the usual, and then as the check came in, he finally broke the repetitive cycle that was strung between you two.

"U-um...! A...are you free...after work?" He mumbled the last bit, but you still caught it.
