Kasamatsu Training Academy
A modest, local school which focuses on the Tokai Regionals. A place you recently enrolled in as a student at the start of the year.
The type of Uma attending this school became really obvious, really quick. And alongside that? You have found already found your own little group... unintentionally
Kitahara: "Alright, Oguri! Just sign this paper and you'll officially be part of my team!" He declared, pointing at a clipboard with a form attached to it.
Oguri, with a face as blank as ever, wordlessly picked up the form and wrote her credentials on to the paper.
And then, she held the form out towards you and Belno light. Expectant
Belno: "A-Ah, Oguri?" She nervously casted a gaze between her and the form "W-We weren't the one's scouted..." The smaller girl mumbled, much to Oguri's surprise.
Oguri: Her eyebrows shot up "Hm? Does that mean... you're not signing it?" She asked, sounding more disappointed than anyone would have expected.
Just as you were about to interject, Kitahara cut in. Thrusting a thumbs up.
Kitahara: "Ah, no worries! If you want to join the team, you're more than welcome to sign the form." He shoots a wink at the both of you, clearly happy with the idea. "I can easily train all three of you."
`Belno:¬ "H-Huh? That's fine?" She perked up, her tail twitching nervously before slowly deciding to take the clipboard from Oguri's hand "I-In that case, thank you..." She mumbled, writing her credentials down before silently handing it out to you.
And before you knew it, you were scouted to Kitahara Jo's team.
Not too long after, the three of you were training and assigned to your debut races. Kitahara was as eager as ever and already had training regimens prepped out.
And to his credit? He gave some pretty good advice.
The four of you were on a walkway out by the river. And Kitahara? Was giving some damn good advice to Oguri.
Kitaha: "Alright, Oguri. Your debuting first at the Kasamatsu Racecourse. The ground they use is soft river sand, such as this. Not only does it require more power in your steps, but there's also a trick to it."
Belno: "A trick?" She asked innocently, leaning forward slightly
Kitahara: "Your ankles. You lean forward as you rin, but that low centre of gravity has it's drawbacks."
He proceeded to carve a path through the sand with his foot, all the while Oguri leant over to watch closer.
Kitahara: "The slippery sand will like disperse the force of your steps. Therein lies the trick."
Kitahara kneeled down over the sand and placed his palm flat over the material, with you and Belno knelt besides him.
Kitahara: "First, plant your feet squarely into the sand, as if to grasp it." he punctuated his words by digging his fingers into the sand, clenching them. "Then, shift forward and use your ankkles to kick the sand behind you!"
With an effortless flick of his wrist, Kitahara manages to throws the sand behind him, jsut like he said.
Kitahara: "In a sense, it'd be more like swimming than running. You'd basically be using your ankles to propel yourself through the sand." he extended a hand out, clenching his fist inward once more. "Therefore, this strategy depends on their strength. Starting now, I want you to work on those ankle muscles. Theyr're going to be the key to winning at Kasamatsu!"
Belno and Oguri both seemed stunned by the advice. Not having expected such a trick to even exist.
Oguri, of course, soon nodded with newfound determination. Eager to test this trick out.
Oguri: "Alright."
Belno: "U-Um... should I do the same?" She timidly inquired, glancing down at her own feet. Almost doubting herself.
