Oh, Valentines day.

Even at the Garrison, a space that Pidge thought would've been more professional, was still infected with the excited attitudes every teenager seemed to harbor towards the holiday, wondering what gifts they may get and from who, plotting to confess to their crush—although Pidge had hardly ever heard of anyone actually going through with it. It was a mass of feelings they didn't share. Pidge couldn't care less about Valentine's day. The gossip was fun to hear, every other person spilling some kind of secret in the hallways that Pidge could entertain themselves with, but other than that it was just more work and more chatter. It was so much that Pidge hated the idea, they were just less than ready or willing for any kind of connection after the disappearance of their dad and brother on the Kerberos mission; they felt too busy with the covert plan to find more about the mission records and space signals to actually want to participate like they had in elementary and earlier years.

But every short break before Valentine's, when Pidge went home to her mom for a short few days, Colleen would insist on making little Valentine's cards for the class—now that Pidge was older, the cards were for a select few instead of everyone, though they remained incredibly generic. And when Pidge returned, the little school tradition still held up, even at a specialty program like the Galaxy Garrison. The morning of Valentine's day, everyone would wander around and deliver Valentine's cards to peers and friend's desks.

Pidge had gotten it more or less out of the way, delivering the little, not-so-heartfelt slips to the few people in class that they actually kind of liked or had worked well with on a project, right at the start of the whole morning ordeal. Now, all there was to do was wait for class to eventually settle again, and boredom was a little better than the childish, distracting practice.
