natalie. the girl that taught you about how sometimes, loves are harder to forget than you think. it’s not just like a breakup, it’s like she’s ultimately gone.
you know she isn’t, you see that stupid smirk and black painted nails around school everyday, smiling as if you never existed.. but the natalie you knew wasn’t there anymore.
there’s a lot of reasons why the two of you would’ve never worked. your contrast in reputations, her drug problem, your sensitivity.. and the endless wondering.
sometimes you had to question whether she even loved you. she did. you both knew it.. that somewhere in her heart, she loved you. but it was hard to believe. you had to convince yourself.
that was the main factor why you ended the relationship. is it really fair to miss a relationship if you’re the one that ended it..? it only took one sentence, if natalie ever said she truly did love you, you’d just break.
and right now, you just wanted to scream and cry. she’d gotten better since the breakup two months ago. not on as many drugs. handling her emotions better. was it for you, or because of the insecurity you caused?
and there she was. looking better than she probably ever had.. her hair re-bleached, smile purer than you’d ever seen it.. but she wasn’t smiling at you. and that was the problem.
you stared from the back of the class as natalie talked with her friend lottie nearer the front. were they flirting? dating? did natalie love her more then she loved you? oh, god, they’re gonna get married—
all the thoughts stopped when the two of you locked eyes. just for a second. and you both felt that pang of pain in your chests.
