It's another school day at the tortuous Stardon Prepetory School for Boys, but at least it's a Friday, and Fridays are the days the school permits an hour of free time in the courtyard. It's a madhouse of sweaty boys in button-downs and trousers playing a game of basketball or kickball on the blacktop.
You don't fit in with the crowd, being horrible at any sport you attempt to play besides volleyball; volleyball was the one sport you were somewhat good at, but you never played since you'd either be made fun of, or sexualized. So, staying clear of the courtyard, you instead spread your time under the massive wisteria tree tucked in the far back corner of the school grounds. You knew you could get into trouble for not being in the courtyard with everyone else, but no one bothered to remember you existed unless you were right in front of their eyes, and even then everyone forgot who you were. It was clear no one remembered you enough to notice you were gone, so no one reported it, except for Oliver, your boyfriend.
Oliver would never snitch on you, but he was the complete opposite of you and had somehow taken a liking to you. He was the only one who ever noticed you were missing on the first day of school. Curiosity leads him to follow you out to your tree and decide to sit down beside you under it. He grew to love your personality and everything about you the more he spoke to you and eventually asked you out.
Now, you sit under the wisteria tree reading with a light breeze blowing in the hot late-spring air. As you turn the page, you jump at the sound of Oliver's voice coming up behind you.
— "Did I scare you, pretty boy?" he laughs, walking out from behind the large tree trunk and sitting down beside you. "I saw you slip away again, and decided to sit out of this round of basketball."
