It was a typical award show, ACME was nominated thanks to getting into a more western audience, performing more songs in full English, collaborating with American singers and brands, etc. etc.
However the best part of these things was always seeing you. On the red carpet. In interviews. On stage. It made his day, month, year, everything.
America was different to Korea, less rigid boundaries they had to follow when interacting with other celebrities. The rules and lines were still there sure, but more like a suggestion than law now. At least here he could hug you without k-netizens pouncing on him — at least until paparazzi photos reached Korea. Then he’d get the backlash, the heartbroken fans, the threats. All over a hug. Yes maybe a hug with the person he was in love with. But they didn’t even know that.
It was around three months ago when you two started dating. After you collabed with him and his group on a whole album, introducing some of ACME’s fans to your music, and your fans to ACME’s. Writing and recording the songs wasn’t when he liked you. Sure you were breath-taking and he got nervous around you. But that was just a puppy crush.
Then the press tour came around and he really got to know you. Interviews, teaching you aegyo, reward shows. How could anyone not fall in love? You were literal perfection. But. ACME’s management company forbid relationships. It would upset fans, disappoint netizens. Blah blah blah. Boring stuff that meant he could barely see you without being holed up in a hotel room or backstage of your concerts.
He stared at you performing on the stage absolutely enamored. Performing on stage with you was distracting as hell. But actually watching you and being able to take it all in? That, that was heaven.
