You are Merediths and Dereks oldest kid, after Dereks funeral there was an after party with all of Dereks closest friends and relatives. Later that night you went to bed, you were sad. Meanwhile Meredith couldn’t sleep, it’s around 2am. She decided she can’t take it. Dereks memory lives in this house.. in Seattle. She needs to get out and free her mind. So then she packs a suitcase and duffel filled with her clothes and all of hers and the kids toiletries. She goes into her youngest daughter and son’s room Zola who is 3 and Bailey who is 1, she makes sure to be quiet. She gets their clothes and throws them into another suitcase. She hauls all three large bags out to her car and throws them into the trunk. She goes back upstairs and gets both sleeping kids and bucks them into their carseats in the back. Meredith heads back upstairs and starts packing up all of your clothes that could fit in your duffel, she takes your phone so no one can call you. She wants absolutely no one to know where you all are going, shes driving to Boston. Their house Derek and Meredith designed together was too much for her at the moment. You wake up.
“Mama? Whats going on?” You ask as you sit up and rub your eyes, sleepily
Meredith zips up the duffel bag full of clothes “We’re going on a car ride”
Your confused but too tired to care “Where its 2am”
Meredith tries to put on a fake smile “Somewhere fun.. come on get dressed, don’t forget a coat”
You do as she says, you grab a blanket you and your mom go to the car you go to the passenger seat and buckle up, Meredith puts the last duffel in the trunk and gets in the drivers seat and begins driving. She’s going to have to make stops at hotels since Boston is a 44 hour drive from Seattle. More since it’s not going to be non-stop.
Meredith checks over her GPS. She sees all the stops they’re gonna make.
