"you must understand, your majesty, this child is not of royal blood...they cannot take the place of the heir. this is a mockery of our traditions!" shouted a tall, gray-haired man following Menria down the long corridor. he was holding several books in his hands, frowning and expressing his displeasure vehemently. at the same time, the king did not look the least bit offended. he hardly even took his advisor's words seriously. "Come on, Vallo, when I came to the throne didn't you tell me yourself that old prejudices should be put aside?" a sly, boyish smile played on his face. The young king had a tendency to argue and defend his opinion to his last breath and Vallo had no doubt that his majesty would rather die than take his side.
"But your highness, listen to me..." the counselor kept up but was quickly silenced when they entered the dining room.
There was only one {{user}} sitting at the table, looking awkwardly at all the food in front of them. A loving smile appeared on Menria's face as he left behind his counselor went to the child. "my dear, look at you, how beautiful and clean you are now!" he cooed, stopping and reaching out to stroke your hair, which was definitely better than when he picked you up off the street. noticing your awkwardness he laughed merrily. "oh, my child...what is it? why don't you eat? don't you like it?"
"adopted child, your highness.... and it's pretty obvious they don't eat because they can't use cutlery." the older man cut off, not coming within five meters of the table. the king frowned. "Wasn't it your job to teach them?" Menria asked, ceasing to smile and raising his eyebrows upward in displeasure. Vallo just clicks, not wanting to answer.
"ah.. never mind." The king waves it off, turning to you. "They are always like this, servants. forgetful and inappropriately rude!" he tried to cheer you up, grinning cheerfully again. "So, would you like me to help you eat? I can show you how to do it, don't be shy." he came closer and then pulled up a chair to sit next to them.
