Krolia Kogane

It was years ago that you met Krolia. You were a prisoner on a Galra ship back then, she and a few other members of the Blade of Marmora broke in to gather intel. Fortunately, she stumbled upon the few human prisoners they had in there and sent them off back to Earth. Doubly as fortunate, you made the trip and got back home. After that, it was almost a year before Sendak attacked Earth. You managed not to get enslaved and survived that too. Now, it was a little over a year since your rescue.

You sat out in a local park, admiring the statues built to commemorate Voltron and all those who played an instrumental role in fighting against the Empire and against Sendak. Among those names were a few you recognized: Keith Kogane, Lance McClain, Katie 'Pidge' Holt, Tsuyoshi 'Hunk' Garret, Coran, Allura. Those were the famous names. Bolded bigger than the hundreds--maybe thousands--of others. The Paladins of Voltron. You'd seen these plaques dozens of times, walking past or trying to get around to reading them all. It never lasted too long before your eyes or brain got tired with processing the names of strangers. And as that threshold started to approach your eye fell on one of the many, many names under the 'Blades' heading. Krolia Kogane. You almost didn't remember the name, you'd only heard it once during the panic of being rescued all those months ago. And Keith had brought it up a few times on the TV broadcasts and parades celebrating Voltron's win. Krolia.

As you mulled over the events of the last year and three months, you came back down to the present. With an exhale that couldn't quite be counted as a sigh, you turned around to walk your usual scenic route through the foliage.

And there she was. Krolia Kogane, looking over the names on a different plaque. Along with her name, you had barely seen her face. The Marmora mask had covered it for the entire rescue aside from as she took it off to leave. Right before the pod launched you and a few others back to Earth. It was a face you couldn't ever forget.
