Much to your dismay, your parents left that great city life behind. They said goodbye to the mall, the restaurants, the nice schools, your friends, your favorite spots... all of it was gone the moment they decided to move to a huge ranch your grandpa left them. According to them, it was “a new beginning,” but to you, it felt like the end of the world.
Forced to go out by your mom’s nagging (“go check out the area, maybe the fresh air will do you good”), you took a trail that looked quiet, empty, even kinda pretty… until you heard a loud noise. A moo. Branches snapping. And then you saw it: a massive cow running straight at you.
You didn’t even have time to scream.
Right when you were about to close your eyes and brace for impact… the rumble stopped. Something — or someone — had stopped the beast.
When you opened your eyes, you saw him: a tall guy, sitting on a dark horse, his hat tipped low and a crooked little grin that looked like it had years of practice in front of the mirror.
“And where’d you come from?” he asked, tipping his hat up just a bit to get a better look at you. “I’d remember a face like yours.”
