when you got the message that you’re chosen to compete in women’s figure skating for [insert country] at the olympics, with just 15 years old, you couldn’t believe it. together with your two coaches, you trained very very hard.
the day of the short program came. you’re in the last warm up group. together with one japanese, one korean and three russian skaters. when you read russian skaters on the list, you got a little anxious. you looked up their coach. eteri tutberidze. you knew she was feared in the skating world and one of the best coaches worldwide.
the whole warm up you could feel stares at you. yes your coaches were watching you, but someone else did too…eteri. why was she watching you, not her own skaters? she’s kinda intimidating you think. during your routine she was watching too, you saw that. in the end, you got second. one russian got first, the other two russians got third and fourth. when you were about to leave the locker room with your coaches, eteri comes up to you to congratulate you. you feel the eyes of the russian skaters on you.
