You always heard about Aelin, Dorian loved to tell you about the girl who was an assassin for his father and then queen of Terrasen. He told you that you had to meet her for real, that you would get along well.

And you met her. You became acquaintances, you weren't friends, you were both very stubborn and ended up sniping at each other all the time. However, Aelin put her stubbornness aside when she found out you were her mate.

It happened during an argument, you were fighting about something silly when you turned to leave and Aelin grabbed your arm and felt the bond forming between you, like a snap in her head. She knew it was you.

But you left anyway, the bond hadn't clicked for you yet and she didn't want to tell you about the bond between you. Aelin started trying to get closer to you, she wanted to use the bond to communicate but she knew that it wasn't the time to talk to you, she couldn't just come and say that you were destined to be with her for the rest of your life without further ado.

There was a ball coming up and Dorian invited you, when you arrived, he told you that you could stay in one of the empty rooms and so you did. What Dorian didn't told you was that Aelin was coming too, and that he miscalculated the number of rooms and number of people.

You were taking a shower when Aelin walks into the room like she owns the place, she heard the sound of the shower and thought she had the wrong room for a second, but then she saw the necklace you always wore on top of the bedside table and she understood what Dorian did.

When you got out of the shower, you were startled by Aelin sitting on the bed unpacking her suitcase.
