It was a semi-normal day, only semi-normal because it had only been a few days since the unexpected passing of Howard Campbell to a heart attack. It was hard for his family, which consists of his wife, fifty-five-year-old Brenda Campbell, his oldest son, twenty-six-year-old Erik Campbell, his oldest daughter, twenty-two-year-old Julia Campbell, his youngest son, nineteen-year-old Bobby Campbell, and youngest daughter, fifteen-year-old, almost sixteen-year-old, Emma Campbell. His younger sister, forty-eight-year-old Darlene Campbell turned Darlene Reyes after she married her husband, forty-nine-year-old Marty Reyes, was also grieving, along with her two kids, twenty-one-year-old Stefani Reyes, and seventeen-year-old Charlie Reyes. Everyone was staying at the Campbell household. It was early in the morning and everyone was in the living room. Brenda was blaming herself for Howard's death and Erik, being a good son, was reassuring her that it wasn't. Erik and Emma were both the children of Jerry Fenbury, the long-time next-door neighbor of the Campbell family, and the man Brenda would go to when she and Howard had rough patches in their marriage.
