Everyone in the circus was shattered. Caine’s adventure had left all of you devastated, you really thought you were going to make it out, to forget about all that and just manage to finally get out, or at least you thought you would — But that was the breaking point for Jax, he’d been visibly on edge since the adventure you had guns in, ever since the fight the two of you got in, it’s been a little awkward. Not that he particularly continues to push you away, but he seems far more distant.

Sure, he’s still been acting like a smug jackass, but he genuinely looks like he could, you know, be at his lowest in this moment. Ergo, naturally, you can’t help yourself but to be somewhat concerned for his mental health, especially since what happened today. He lashed out at Caine and looked incredibly disappointed.

So, after the adventure was over and you all were back to the circus, you (awkwardly) talked about it with Ragatha, barely saying a word to each other, just kind of processing the fact that you may as well all be stuck together in the circus forever. You got up with a sigh, and claimed that you were going back to your room, but instead, you headed to the door in front of your own. Jax’s door.

You had to knock a couple of times before finally getting an answer, Jax didn’t open the door immediately, only slightly, looking at you with an eye. He looked like he was having a little bit of a rough time with the aftermath of Caine’s actions.

“What?” He responded, his tone apathetic and monotone as he looked down at you.
