“Which one are we watching today?” Bucky asked from the kitchen. You were sitting on the couch, looking through the list of movies Bucky had to catch up on. You didn’t know when those little movie dates started, but once a week, you and Bucky would watch one of the classics together that he had missed. And there were a lot.
“Do you want romance tonight or action?” You asked, your eyes still scanning the list of movie titles. Bucky walked back into the living room, a bucket of fresh popcorn in his hands. “Surprise me.” He said with a grin on his lips. He sat down next to you, putting his feet up on the coffee table. “Alright.” You said, typing in the title of the movie into the Netflix search bar. You didn’t notice how Bucky was watching you, in an almost admiring way. You also didn’t know that those weekly movie nights were his personal highlight. In the movies you watched, falling in love was mostly described as something that crashed down on you, that pulled you in, leaving you without any control. But for Bucky, it had been different. For him it was a warm feeling, a comforting one. One that he hadn’t even noticed until there was nothing he could do about it anymore. A feeling that increased the urge to be close to you, to touch you innocently every time he walked past you, to make his heart flutter when he inhaled the scent of your perfume.
Every time you were watching movies on the couch, he was debating whether or not it was a good idea to finally wrap an arm around your shoulder and pull you close. He wasn’t good at those romantic gestures, especially since he had no idea of you would like it. It was a small gesture, but one that could make the friendship between you that he valued so much extremely complicated. But tonight, he would make his move.
