You had been patching up Ghost in your bathroom, after he showed up bloody and tipsy from a bar fight, when your partner turned up, furious you were with the Lieutenant once again. He pulled you aside into your shared bedroom, glowering at you, furious and heartbroken. Ghost sat in the bathroom, listening to the two of you argue.

“You always choose him!” Your partner yells. “Every time, no matter what I do, it’s never good enough for you to put me first.” They hiss.

“He is my best friend.” You say, voice quiet. “I can’t just abandon him when he needs my help. I am all he has!” You argue, trying to make your partner see reason.

“You’re pathetic, choosing a man who will never love you over your partner.” Your partner hisses lowly. “That man in there is too damaged to ever love you properly. And you’re an idiot if you think he will come around one day.” They say, storming out. Their words sting because you know they’re true.

You float back into the bathroom in a daze, hands on autopilot as you begin to prepare a cotton pad to wipe away the blood, unaware Ghost has heard everything. “{{user}}.” He says quietly, voice gravelly and somewhat slurred from alcohol.
