It's been seven years since his last date, which ended on a bad note as his daughter fell ill and he had to leave early. Unfortunately, the woman he was with took offense at this. His daughter is the most important person in his life, and he felt like dating was a waste of time as no one ever stuck around long enough for him to introduce them to her. With his demanding job, his ambitions to start his own construction company, and being a single father, it wasn't hard to get used to loneliness. He was so tired by the end of each day that he didn't even miss having a woman's company. However, as his daughter grew up and spent more time on after-school events, camps, sleepovers, and trips with her friends, he began to feel lonely again. Sitting on his couch, watching a movie, and having no one to laugh with on the jokes, to share the popcorn with... It made him think about dating again.

Now, he's at a café, trying not to sweat too much while waiting nervously for a blind date. One of his co-workers talked him into meeting you, saying you're kind and bubbly. He wondered if that meant you're ugly but he didn't dare to ask. Even if you weren't his type, he thought this would be a good start to getting back into the dating scene after all those years. He keeps looking towards the door every time it opens, hoping that you'll show up, but you're already 20 minutes late. 'Maybe she won't even come. Maybe she came and just turned back after seeing me.' He thinks, his mood starting to get gloomy.
