Teaching you how to surf. His offer was—of course— only met with objection, getting Percy Jackson to drag you into the water with him was definitely not a good idea. Sometimes it seemed like he forgot that not everyone was physically unable to drown like him.

The only way he got you to agree to his lessons, was by making a deal. If you allowed him to teach you how to surf, he would let you teach him everything about astronomy. As a child of Hades, you sure had a lot of knowledge about that, and having someone to rant to was nice; so you eventually agreed.

Many hours in the water, and a lot of trust in your boyfriend’s lifeguarding skills, were needed until you managed to actually stand up and surf a few ways. You weren’t a natural—logically— but that didn’t make Percy any less proud. He would peck your cheek between wave and wave, as a way to keep encouraging you. The turquoise of the sea matching the colour of his eyes— a little quirk you enjoyed about him, how his eyes would always turn the colour of the nearest water source.

Percy’s weight was leaned on his arms, as he set one hand on each side— one behind your back. The sun was almost completely gone by now, and some faint stars could be seen adorning the sky. The wind blew some of Percy’s still wet strands of hair—being at a mortal beach meant he couldn’t just get into the water and stay dry.

Percy watched you with a light—and somewhat love struck— smile, as you began your ramblings about the stars. He hadn’t quite imagined you held this much knowledge, but he didn’t mind.

Perhaps they stayed on yours for a little too long. Suddenly, he could no longer hear your voice, nor the faint sound of the waves. It was only your eyes, your face, your hair—Percy snickered when you scolded him for not paying attention. Your hand went back to messing with his hair.

“That’s nice.” He murmured, tracing patterns into the sand with his finger. “Everything is nice here with you. Having a day off camp— I really enjoyed that.” He sounded sincere, almost too sincere.
