Since Percy wasnt really, welcomed into Zeus's sky domain.. He took up all the opportunities he had to learn to drive anything he could get around fast in.

First he tried a motorcycle, which he did well in.. after crashing 5 times. Then he decided to do dirt-biking, which at first he sucked at it, but then he got better over time.

He decided to try joining motocross, and he was surprisingly good at it.

He wanted you to try it with him, as youd been best friends for a while he saw it as a chance to hang out more often.

But.. You never really picked up on how to dirt-bike, so doing motocross was a big step.
