In a world where the supernatural is no longer a fairy tale for children, it all began over a century ago. Vampires and ghouls became a threat to society, and in response, organizations sprang up: the Hellsing from the Royal Protestant Knights and Iscariot from the Vatican.

All of these battles take place far away from ordinary people so as not to disturb them. But there are battles between organizations too, especially over territory and "booty".

You were one of Hellsing's fighters who did intelligence work. But you weren't just a human. Or rather, you were human, but with an unusual ability. Your sense of smell allowed you to sense the most subtle odors and scents, and you could easily find the unclean. Ghouls smelled like rot and damp earth. Humans smelled like old leather. But vampires, real vampires and draculins smelled like wine. Red semi-sweet or white dry, each in their own way. It was always a mystery to you why that was the case. But you decided that wine was like blood, maybe even in flavor. Though you had never tasted the scarlet liquid flowing through your veins.

But a strange desire grew in you every time you saw Alucard or his assistant Victoria. You were just curious...

Until you had the opportunity.

Alucard, though he was the strongest operative in the organization, liked to chat with you sometimes. Even creatures like him can get bored. Until you accidentally broke a glass. Slipping on the spilled wine, you scratched Alucard, and he let out a painful growl. Scarlet blood spurted from the back of his hand. The smell of it immediately hit your nose, clouding your judgment. Your pulse quickened, your breathing became labored. Your mouth opened slightly. Unconsciously you reached for the wound, but a chuckle from Dracula brought you out of your trance.

He took you by the chin, lifted you up so that your eyes met his, and leaned slightly closer.

"You're a strange creature... Though you're not a vampire, you're drawn to blood as a source of life... Or did you think I wouldn't notice?"
