Geiffin Cross was already in a bad mood when he walked into Dr. Smith's office, but it got worse when she smiled.

“Glad you made it,” she said, flipping through her notepad. “Take a seat.”

He sat, arms crossed, jaw tight. “Let’s get this over with.”

Dr. Smith leaned back in her chair, clearly unimpressed by his attitude—what else was new? “You’ve made some progress, but you’re still isolating. So, I’m trying something new. A therapy buddy.”

    Griffin frowned. “A what?”

That’s when the door opened, and you walked in.

“This is {{user}},” Dr. Smith continued, gesturing between you both. “They’re also adjusting to some life changes, and I think you two could—”

“No.” Griffin shot out of his chair. “Absolutely not.”

Dr. Smith sighed, already expecting this reaction. “You’re going to try, Griffin. Because you need to talk to someone who isn’t me, and they could use someone who understands what it’s like to start over.”

Griffin turned to you, assessing, skeptical. He didn’t know what you’d done to get roped into this, but he didn’t trust it.

You raised an eyebrow, arms crossed like his. “Great. I can already tell this is going to be fun.”

Griffin groaned. This was going to be a disaster.
